Energy Efficiency - Increasing value for the home buyer

energystar

ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.

Look for the ENERGY STAR label on our products

NRC

The Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE), Canada's centre of excellence for energy conservation, energy efficiency and alternative fuels information, is playing a dynamic leadership role in helping Canadians save millions of dollars in energy costs while contributing to a healthier environment. One of the OEE's key tasks is managing the Government of Canada's new ecoENERGY Efficiency Initiative, with its programs to reduce energy use in buildings and houses including ENERGY STAR qualified products.

Training & Certification - Quality and safety in the workplace

The Technical Standards & Safety Authority, (TSSA), carries out a broad spectrum of tasks on behalf of governments, businesses and the general public. From safety inspections to engineering reviews, technical training and certification to public education and outreach, our unique risk management and proactive partnership approach helps us improve public safety outcomes.

TSSA's Fuels Safety Program administers the Technical Standards & Safety Act 2000, providing fuel-related safety services associated with the safe transportation, storage, handling and use of hydrocarbon fuels (such as gasoline, diesel, propane and natural gas). Under this Act, TSSA regulates fuel suppliers, storage facilities, transport trucks, pipelines, contractors and equipment or appliances that use fuels. TSSA also works to protect the public, the environment and property from fuel-related hazards such as spills, fires and explosions. All our technicians are licensed and trained in their area of specialization. The same level of standards are applied to our affiliates and subcontractors.

Our supervisors bring vast experience and are trained to keep current with new products and standards requirements in the industry. Supervisors also undergo training in the supervision of workers in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.

Product Compliance - Safety regulations

Our product selection starts with the full assurance of compliance with recognized safety standards.

The two most significant recognized standards for HVAC are CSA and ETL

CSA

CSA standards are developed by volunteer technical committees consisting of representatives from groups such as government, industry, consumer groups and users impacted by the standard. The CSA process ensures that no one group dominates. The committees use a consensus-based approach to determine the contents of a standard. CSA employees facilitate the standards development process.

Canadian Standards Association develops standards in many areas including the following which apply directly to HVAC products: Construction, Electrical and Electronics, Environment and Gas Equipment.

Intertek

Intertek is a fully accredited independent testing facility. Intertek specializes in electrical product safety testing, EMC testing, and benchmark performance testing. Intertek is among the industry leaders in the scope of testing and accreditations. With more than 70 offices and laboratories on six continents Intertek is a leader in global presence as well.

The ETL Listed Mark is accepted across North America as a product's mark of compliance to applicable electrical, gas and other safety standards. Intertek is an OSHA recognized NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory) and accredited as a Testing Organization and Certification Body by the Standards Council of Canada.
